Signal converter
S7 Radiobox CAN is a device for converting wireless BLE-signal (S7 Technology) into wired CAN-interface (S6 Technology).
Converter is designed to receive data from wireless Bluetooth fuel level sensors DUT-E S7, flow meters DFM S7 and DFM Marine S7 – and output digital messages according to J1939/71 protocol to the terminal device – telematics gateway, CAN-display, GPS-tracker and similar.
S7 Radiobox CAN is used in machinery telematics and GPS vehicle tracking systems, where fuel monitoring is performed by wireless BLE sensors, but the signal transmission must take place via cable:
- ship telematics – installation of BLE sensors is easier in confined spaces, but signal transmission is limited by metal obstacles,
- fuel cistern monitoring – fire and explosion safety required, BLE sensors are used without additional protection units,
- GPS tracking of tanker trucks – fire and explosion safety required, but signal transmission is limited by metal obstacles,
- telematics systems that require fuel control at several points – less cabling works, quicker installation.
Features of S7 Radiobox CAN operation
- connection of up to 10 DUT-E S7 wireless fuel level sensors or DFM S7, DFM Marine S7 fuel flow meters
- connection of wireless fuel flow meters in “Differential pair” mode
- summarizing data from several fuel level sensors
- summarizing data from several fuel flow meters
- configured using service software
Application S7 Radiobox CAN
In the fuel control and ship telematics system, flow meters and level sensors are installed in limited space conditions – it is difficult to pull the signal cable to the monitoring terminal. Using S7 Radiobox CAN allows to “bypass” difficult areas for cable pulling, and also allows to control the readings of wireless BLE devices using a mobile application.
At fire hazardous objects – fuel storage facilities, gasoline tankers – the use of wireless level sensors and fuel flow meters allows to solve the problems of fire and explosion safety, because there is no electrical contact between the sensor itself and the external power supply.
However, if BLE sensors are installed far away from the receiving device (e.g., GPS terminal) or if several sensors are used at the monitoring object and cable laying is laborious, it is recommended to use S7 Radiobox CAN.
