SmartGen HGM6100N Now Compatible with CANUp 27 and UNUM Genset

Technoton has confirmed compatibility between SmartGen HGM6100N, CANUp 27 (models 30, 31, 32) and UNUM Genset.
A genset equipped with a SmartGen controller can now be connected to UNUM Genset via RS-485 Modbus for remote monitoring and control — without replacing the controller or developing a new integration from scratch.
What the integration enables
CANUp 27 receives data from SmartGen and sends it to UNUM Genset. Operators can remotely:
- monitor genset operating parameters;
- view SmartGen statuses and alarm flags;
- display controller data on UNUM dashboards;
- start and stop the genset.
This brings SmartGen data and control functions into a single online platform.
How remote control works
Communication works in both directions.
From UNUM, an operator can switch SmartGen to MANUAL mode and send a START command, enable AUTO mode for automatic genset start in case of mains power failure, or send a STOP command.
CANUp 27 transfers these commands to the controller via RS-485 Modbus.
What genset owners get
If SmartGen HGM6100N is already installed, the existing genset control system can remain unchanged. CANUp adds remote access through UNUM Genset.
Operators can see genset status, operating parameters and alarms, and control the genset without visiting the site. For fleets with multiple gensets, UNUM Genset becomes a single point for remote monitoring and control.
SmartGen controls the genset, CANUp connects the controller to the cloud, and UNUM Genset provides remote access to data and control functions.
